Community Relations Dogs

Client Stories

“Positively engaging with the community to improve police relations”

Community Relations Dogs represent a novel addition to the realm of police dogs, aiming to establish bridges between the public and law enforcement. Their primary objective is to foster positive and meaningful engagement between citizens and police departments. Serving as ambassadors, these dogs extend their efforts across the community, forging valuable connections with individuals from all walks of life.

Our Community Relations Dogs receive the same training in basic foundation skills as our Service Dogs. In addition to this training, Community Relations Dogs learn specialized skills to aid in different modalities of animal assisted intervention.

Community Resource Dogs do not have public access rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). As such, they must have permission before entering any and all facilities.

“Since Gadget joined the department the relationship between the public and the Newmarket Police Department has definitely improved.  Having Gadget has made it easier for people to approach and communicate with police.  Overall, Gadget has definitely shined a positive light on law enforcement”.
